7-year-old boy was struck by a bullet in Antioch on William Reed Avenue

A 7-year-old boy was struck by a bullet in Antioch this evening when shots were fired into the back yard where he was attending a barbecue, according to police. The boy was taken to Children’s Hospital in Oakland following the 4:17 p.m. shooting on William Reed Avenue, Antioch police said this evening. The boy, who was visiting from out of town with his parents, is expected to recover from his injuries. Police believe the shots were fired into the back yard from an area near the G Street overcrossing.
