A Rohnert Park man was arrested early this morning on suspicion of shooting a man in the face and arm with a pellet gun, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said. Public Safety Officer Steve Luscombe saw two males involved in a disturbance on Santa Barbara Drive in Rohnert Park around 2:17 a.m. He learned that the fight began when the owner of a car parked unlocked on the street came outside and found James Jensen, 18, sitting in his vehicle. Jensen allegedly struck the victim in the face with a pellet gun and shot him repeatedly in the face and arm, police said.

An off-duty police officer heard the disturbance, took away the pellet gun and called 911. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment, and property taken from the victim’s vehicle was found in front of his house and down the street, police said. Jensen was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, petty theft, prowling, possession of an illegal knife and being a minor in possession of alcohol, police said.
