Two men held up a check cashing business at gunpoint in Pleasant Hill this afternoon, police said. A short time after 2 p.m., two men entered the Check ‘N Go business at 720 Contra Costa Blvd., police said. Police said the men reportedly asked an employee about a certain type of transaction. As the employee explained the transaction, one of the suspects pulled out a silver semi-automatic handgun and demanded the employee hand over cash, according to police.
Fearing for her life, the clerk handed over the cash. The suspects ordered her to lie down on the floor as they fled, police said. No injuries were reported. Before leaving, the pair also stole phones from the business and the employee. Police said a witness saw the suspects heading west on the south side of the business. People reported seeing the suspects just before the robbery on foot on Contra Costa Boulevard and in a shopping center on the corner of Contra Costa Boulevard and Golf Club Road.
