San Bruno police have arrested a suspected residential burglar who fled after he was confronted by a resident on Tuesday, police said. Officers responded to a report of a person in the backyard of a home in the 1200 block of East Huntington Avenue at about 5:45 p.m., police said. When officers arrived, the resident told them he had heard knocking at his front door, which he had ignored.
A short time later, the resident’s son told him there was a stranger in their backyard. When resident approached the man in the yard, he ran away, according to police. Police located a man matching the suspect’s description, and the resident identified him as the person who had been in his backyard, police said. The suspect, Randy Christopher Norman, 29, of San Bruno, was in possession of property stolen from the resident’s home, according to police. Norman was arrested and booked into county jail.
