Andrew James Gomez convicted felon and Norteno gang member arrested in Castroville for drugs and ammo

A 19-year-old convicted felon and Norteno gang member was arrested Tuesday morning during a probation compliance search in Castroville, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. At about 10:22 a.m., the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Detail conducted a probation compliance search at 11600 Poole St., at the residence of Andrew James Gomez.

Gomez was found to be in possession of ammo, methamphetamine, and Norteno gang indicia, deputies said. According to sheriff’s deputies, Gomez is a member of the Norteno criminal street gang and a convicted felon. Gomez was booked into Monterey County Jail for being a felon in possession of ammunition, possession of methamphetamine, for participation in a criminal street gang and violation of probation.
