A man robbed a US Bank branch in a Safeway store in Santa Rosa this afternoon, police said. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans when he robbed the branch at 2300 Mendocino Ave. at about 2 p.m. today, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Clay Van Artsdalen said. The robber is described as white and roughly 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds, Van Artsdalen said. No weapon was seen. The same bank was robbed on Feb. 14. The suspect in that case was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s who is about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a stocky build and a goatee.
Police have said the suspect in the Valentine’s Day robbery might be responsible for robbing a US Bank in a Safeway on Commerce Boulevard in Rohnert Park earlier that day, and robbing Chase Bank in a Raley’s store on Fulton Road in Santa Rosa on Feb. 1. The FBI last week asked the public’s help identifying a serial bank robber they dubbed the “Hoodie Bandit” who they believe is responsible for the February bank robberies in Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park.
