A shooting victim was found near a Denny’s restaurant in San Mateo early this morning, a police spokesman said. Officers went to the restaurant, located at 2920 South Norfolk St., at about 2:10 a.m. in response to a report of a possible shooting victim, San Mateo police Lt. Ted Gonzales said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, Gonzales said. San Mateo police Sgt. Dave Norris said the victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Salinas police are investigating the incident, Gonzales said. He declined to release more details, and a Salinas police spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
