A man counting his money after he walked out of a check-cashing business in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood was beaten unconscious and robbed on Tuesday evening, police said today. The robbery was reported around 7 p.m. near Turk and Jones streets. The 45-year-old victim was walking down the street and counting his cash when two suspects approached.

One grabbed and held the victim while the other pistol-whipped him and knocked him unconscious, according to police. The suspects, described only as two men in their 20s, then took the man’s cash and fled. They had not been found as of this morning, police said. The victim was taken to St. Francis Memorial Hospital to be treated for head injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
