A man was critically injured in an attack in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood early Saturday morning, police said today. The attack, reported at 2:12 a.m. Saturday near Ellis and Mason streets, involved a 29-year-old victim who got into an altercation with another man, according to police. The suspect punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall backward and hit his head on a pole. The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries, which are considered life-threatening, police said. The suspect, described only as a man between 20 and 30 years old, fled in a taxi and had not been found as of this morning, according to police.
