The California Highway Patrol is investigating an incident on U.S. Highway 101 in Marin County on Sunday evening in which a passenger attacked a driver and then stole her SUV, CHP officials said. The incident was reported at about 6:55 p.m. in the Marinwood area.
Investigators believe Mill Valley resident Jeremiah Dickerson, 24, was riding in a Ford Explorer when he became angry with the driver and started punching her in the face, according to the CHP. The female exited the car and Dickerson allegedly drove away in the SUV, speeding south on Highway 101 and driving recklessly, CHP officials said. He crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and entered San Francisco, where he allegedly struck a San Francisco Fire Department truck that was responding to an emergency in the 1300 block of Post Street, investigators said.
At that point, Dickerson fled on foot, according to the CHP. A CHP spokesman this morning did not immediately have information on whether Dickerson was arrested. A San Francisco County Jail employee said this morning that there was no record of Dickerson being booked there.
