Santa Rosa Police Arrest 5 at Checkpoint for Allegedly Driving Under the Influence

During a DUI-drivers license checkpoint Saturday, police in Santa Rosa arrested five violators, police said. Officers set up the checkpoint on Morgan Street between Third and Fifth streets, according to police. The goal of the checkpoint is two-fold: to remove impaired drivers and bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence.

Five drivers – Hugo Erik Diaz Soto, 30, Sydney Planinash, 21, Brian Sharp, 43, all of Rohnert Park, Corbin Elliot Vaugn, 28, of Sacramento, and Jeffrey Daniel Hartley, 33, of Santa Rosa, were arrested for driving under the influence, police said. In addition to the DUI arrests, police arrested and cited 17 unlicensed drivers, and four others for driving with a suspended license, according to police.
