Two men were arrested in connection with a residential burglary Tuesday morning in San Leandro, police said. Police arrested 19-year-old DeAndre Valentine, of Pittsburg, and 20-year-old Malcolm Walker, of unincorporated Alameda County, in connection with the burglary.

A citizen alerted police around 10 a.m. when she saw several subjects she did not recognize loading a television into a vehicle in front of her neighbor’s home, located in the 14800 block of Lark Street. The citizen provided police with a detailed description of the suspects and their vehicle, police said. San Leandro police saturated the area and located the suspects driving a vehicle through the neighborhood.

An officer attempted to stop the vehicle, whereupon the two suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, police said. With the assistance of canine units, police conducted yard searches and located the two suspects hiding nearby.

Both suspects were taken into custody and booked into jail for burglary and possession of stolen property. Officers recovered the items stolen from the residence in the suspect vehicle. Upon further investigation, police discovered that the suspects had forced their way into the residence through a rear window.
