Randi Tope Arrested for Allegedly Bringing Marijuana into Chamberlain Creek State Correctional Facility

On 03/03/2013 at approximately 1130 hours, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Chamberlain Creek State Correctional Facility regarding a visitor being detained for bringing marijuana onto the premises.
Deputies arrived and learned Randi Tope had driven to the facility for an authorized inmate visitation period. Upon Tope’s arrival State Corrections staff smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from inside her vehicle.
A search of the vehicle and Tope‚s clothing was conducted after consent was obtained by Corrections staff. During the search Corrections staff found Tope to be in possession of 2 marijuana buds inside a plastic bag and a marijuana cigarette. The total estimated weight of the marijuana was approximately 2 grams.
Deputies established probable cause to believe Tope had knowingly brought the marijuana onto the facility’s premises knowing that such activity was prohibited and illegal.
Tope was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on the listed charge and was to be held in lieu of $15,000.00 bail.
