On 03-01-2013 at approximately 1530 hours a Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to an address in the 1900 block of Foothill Drive in Redwood Valley for a report of criminal threats.
The victim reported that the suspect, Martin Hernandez-Fuentes, had been involved in an argument with the victim. During the argument Hernandez-Fuentes threatened to leave and return with a gun to kill the victim and her two small children.
While taking the information from the victim, a vehicle description was obtained for the vehicle Hernandez-Fuentes was driving. The Deputy then left the residence.
When the Deputy reached West Road in Redwood Valley, he spotted Hernandez-Fuentes’ vehicle turning onto Foothill Drive.
The Deputy attempted to stop Hernandez-Fuentes, but he fled at speeds reaching 60 MPH on the dirt road. Once Hernandez-Fuentes reached the victim’s residence, he fled on foot toward the front door with the Deputy pursuing on foot.
Hernandez-Fuentes was able to open the front door and get inside, but was unable to shut the door as the Deputy stopped it from closing.
The Deputy was able to force the door open and then struggled with Hernandez-Fuentes until he was able to secure Hernandez-Fuentes in handcuffs.
When the Deputy returned to Hernandez-Fuentes’ vehicle, approximately 17-pounds of processed marijuana was found in the trunk packaged in 1-pound clear plastic bags.
Hernandez-Fuentes was found to be an unlicensed driver. Hernandez-Fuentes was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on the listed charges where he was to be held in lieu of $30,000.00 bail.
