Police are attempting to locate an ex-convict who allegedly threatened someone with a knife in Walnut Creek last month after being released from prison and deported to Mexico, a police lieutenant said. Police have a warrant for the arrest of Rogelio Argueta, 40, who was arrested in June 2011 and convicted on charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
Argueta was deported to Mexico after serving a year in state prison early last month, police said. A few weeks later, he returned to Walnut Creek where he allegedly brandished a knife and threatened to kill a victim, who is someone he knows, Lt. Steve Gorski said.
Police said Argueta is aware that law enforcement officers are searching for him and that he may be hiding with friends or relatives in the Walnut Creek or Concord areas. The 40-year-old is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.
