Police today released the identities of a couple who died in a murder-suicide at a west Vallejo apartment last weekend. The bodies of Jeanette Ross and Marvin Taylor, both 52, were found in an apartment in the 400 block of Ebbetts Pass Road on Sunday after relatives asked police to make a welfare check, Vallejo police Lt. Jim O’Connell said. While police were responding around 9:20 a.m., one of the relatives heard a gunshot.
The relatives forced entry into the apartment and found Ross and Taylor, O’Connell said. Investigators believe Taylor shot Ross a day or two before he shot himself on Sunday, O’Connell said. The bodies were found in separate rooms and police recovered a handgun at the scene. The couple was not married but had been cohabiting for years, O’Connell said.
A motive for the murder-suicide was not yet being released today. “We have some idea why it happened but it’s not solid enough to release it,” he said. Ross is Vallejo’s fifth homicide victim this year and the third one killed by a firearm, O’Connell said.
