Stephen Frazee Marin County Jail inmate died in his cell

Novato police have identified a Marin County Jail inmate who died in his cell on Friday as 29-year-old Stephen Frazee, of San Rafael. Frazee was in custody for a probation violation, police Lt. Jennifer Welch said. Jail records show that Frazee was arrested Feb. 11 on suspicion of battery, possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence.

He was arrested Feb. 25 for violating his probation. Marin County sheriff’s deputies found Frazee unresponsive in his cell around 4:25 p.m. Friday, Marin sheriff’s Lt. Craig Scardina said. Sheriff’s personnel and San Rafael Fire Department paramedics performed CPR but Frazee was pronounced dead at 4:58 p.m., Scardina said. Novato police and the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the death and no other information about Frazee was released today.
