An assault rifle stolen from a San Francisco police car on Saturday was recovered two days later in Oakland, police said today. The AR-15 rifle, which was taken from an unmarked car in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood late Saturday night, was found during a search of a home in the 1300 block of 88th Avenue in Oakland on Monday, San Francisco police said. Several people were detained but no one had been arrested in connection with the stolen gun as of this morning, according to police. AR-15 rifles are issued to specially trained officers for use in incidents such as those involving barricaded suspects, police said.
