Police in Palo Alto are searching for a man who robbed a Public Storage business and one of its employees on Saturday evening. Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Public Storage at 2047 E. Bayshore Road at about 5 p.m., police said. When officers arrived they talked to the victim, a man in his 50s who works at the Public Storage.
The man told police that another man walked into the facility and brandished a semi-automatic handgun and demanded he lay on the ground, according to police. The suspect then took property from the victim, as well as cash and a landline phone from the business, police said. He then fled on foot, according to police. No one was injured in the robbery.
The man waited on the ground a few minutes before going to a nearby business to call 911, police said. The suspect, described as a black man in his 20s, standing about 6 feet tall with a thin build and an inch-long growth of facial hair on his chin, remains at large, police said. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head, blue jeans and dark-colored gloves.
