Six Arrested for Alleged Prostitution in Salinas

Six people were arrested in Salinas on Friday night on suspicion of prostitution, according to police. At about 10:10 p.m., several prostitutes who were contacted on the Internet met with officers at a hotel and were arrested on suspicion of prostitution. Several more who were walking in the area of Kern and Roosevelt streets also were arrested, police said.

The women who were arrested are from Sacramento, Salinas, Oakland, East Palo Alto, Marin and San Francisco. They are between 21 and 33 years old. The Salinas Police Department Violence Suppression Unit and the San Benito County Task Force conducted the joint operation.
