A 20-year-old Watsonville man was fatally stabbed Thursday afternoon in Watsonville, police said. At about 2:40 p.m. police were dispatched to the vicinity of Lincoln and Prospect streets on a report that a group of males were chasing another male. Responding officers were then notified that the lone male victim appeared to have been stabbed by one of the suspects in the 1200 block of Lincoln Street, police said.

Police arrived on scene and found the male victim, identified as Felipe Reyes, lying on his back with at least two stab wounds to his upper torso. Emergency medical responders arrived at the scene, administered life-saving efforts to Reyes, but were ultimately unsuccessful. Reyes was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

The suspects were described as four to five males who were last seen running southbound on Lincoln Street away from the area. Police searched the area but have yet to detain any suspects. Investigators processed the crime scene and recovered evidence. Police have not released whether the homicide is believed to be gang-related.
