Two men remain at large after robbing a University of California at Berkeley student in Berkeley on Monday night, police said today. Officers from Berkeley and UC Berkeley police responded to a report of an armed robbery that occurred in the area of Dwight Way and Piedmont Avenue at about 8 p.m., police said. A 20-year-old man, and student at UC Berkeley, was approached from behind by two suspects, according to police. One of the suspects pointed a gun at the man, and the other suspect demanded the victim give up his property, police said. They took his cellphone and ran away, police said. No one was injured in the robbery.
The suspects were last seen running west on Dwight Way. Officers searched the area but could not locate the two suspects, police said. One suspect is described as a 25-year-old Hispanic man, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. He was seen wearing a red knitted cap and dark baggy clothes. The other suspect is described as a 25-year-old black man, about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark clothes. Anyone with information is asked to call Berkeley police at (510) 981-5900.
