A 15-year-old boy was airlifted with life-threatening injuries after a group of men stabbed him multiple times and beat him over the head with a skateboard in Watsonville on Wednesday afternoon, police said. Officers received a report of “a man down” at a home in the 200 block of Bockius Street, about five blocks from where the assault occurred, at about 3:45 p.m. Police found the victim at the home suffering from several stab wounds to his upper body and head trauma from being hit by a blunt object.

The boy was airlifted to a Bay Area trauma center, police said. Officers determined the boy had been walking on Carr Street near East Lake Avenue when five to seven males, between 18 and 20 years of age, approached him. According to the police investigation, the suspects asked the victim if he was affiliated with a gang, but before he could answer the suspects stabbed him several times. The suspects took the victim’s skateboard and hit him over the head with it before running away with the skateboard, police said. Officers searched the area for the suspects but were unable to locate them.
