Two minor boys were arrested for two unrelated strong-arm robberies in Alameda last Friday, police said today. In a first incident, a man was approached by three boys in the 1300 block of Park Street around 4:45 p.m., police said. The victim was holding an iPad, and one of the suspects punched him in the face, took the device and fled on foot. The victim suffered a bruise to his face but did not seek medical attention, police said. He reported the incident to police, and officers were able to find a group of males who matched the suspect descriptions.
One boy in the group was determined to be the boy who snatched the iPad, according to police. The iPad was recovered and returned to the victim, and the boy was taken into custody and was later released to a parent, police said. Later that evening, just before 7 p.m., a female juvenile told police a boy had followed her off a bus near the 1400 block of Bay Street.
The suspect took the victim’s backpack, made lewd comments and touched her in a sexual way, police said. The victim screamed for help and the suspect fled, police said. Responding officers got a description of the suspect and found him in the rear of a nearby apartment building, police said. He was taken into custody and booked into Alameda County Juvenile Hall.
As both suspects were juveniles, police are withholding their names.
