A 17-year-old girl was struck by a hit and run driver Saturday evening as she crossed West Orange Avenue in South San Francisco. The girl was crossing in the crosswalk at C Street and West Orange just before 6:30 p.m. when she was struck on her right leg by an eastbound car, according to police.

The driver had stopped at the intersection and then drove straight through, apparently without seeing the girl, police said. She stopped her car a short distance away, spoke briefly with the victim and then fled the scene, driving east on West Orange.

The girl was treated by paramedics for a minor injury to her right ankle and released to a guardian at the scene. The suspect vehicle is described as a silver four-door vehicle, police said. The driver was a white woman in her 50s or 60s with blonde or white hair, police said.
