Pauly Silva Murdered in Santa Cruz, Police Seeking Witnesses

A 32-year-old man was fatally shot in Santa Cruz early on Saturday morning, according to police. Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 200 block of Locust Street at about 12:30 a.m., according to Santa Cruz police. Arriving officers found Santa Cruz resident Pauly Silva suffering multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He died at the scene. Witnesses described a possible suspect vehicle as a gray or green 1990s Mercedes.

A vehicle matching the description was stopped by Watsonville police near Green Valley Road, and two occupants of the car were detained for questioning. The two suspects are known Norteno gang members, police said. Police today were continuing to investigate any connection between the suspects and the victim.

A third person of interest was arrested on outstanding warrants and is being questioned by police. Police are asking any potential witnesses to the crime to come forward.
