Two people were injured when an armed robbery at a San Pablo convenience store turned violent Wednesday night, police said today. Police said around 9:35 p.m., two men entered the Farmer’s Market at 1160 Rumrill Blvd. One of the men was armed with a gun and demanded cash from a customer and an employee. The armed suspect ordered the worker and customer to the ground and as they began to comply, shot both of the victims in the leg, police said. Meanwhile, the second suspect took about $2,000 from the cash register and several boxes of cigarettes.
The pair fled in a black SUV before officers arrived at the scene, police said. The victims were taken to hospitals to be treated for injuries not believed to be life-threatening. A store surveillance camera captured part of the robbery and police are using the footage to attempt to identify the suspects, who are described only as Asian men in their 20s wearing dark clothing.
