Police have identified three suspects wanted in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old man at a Pittsburg gas station last week, a police lieutenant said today. Bay Point resident Brian Keith Fox, 22, Robert Gary Grant, 24, and 19-year-old Demetria Thomas are all suspects linked to the fatal shooting of Timothy Smith, Jr. at a Union 76 gas station on Jan. 29, Lt. Ron Raman said.
The shooting was reported around 9 a.m. at the gas station at 2150 Railroad Ave., sending customers running and leaving Smith with a fatal gunshot wound to the head, according to authorities. He was pronounced dead later that day. Raman declined to disclose a motive for the killing, but said that Smith was “definitely the intended target.” Police quickly identified Fox as a suspect in the slaying and said today that Thomas and Grant are also suspects.
All three have criminal histories. Raman said both Fox and Grant have prior drug and weapon-related convictions, while Thomas, who also goes by the nicknames “Deme” or “Diamond,” has one prior arrest and is believed to solicit escort services via the Internet. The three suspects are known to frequent Oakland and San Francisco. Law enforcement officers there have also been notified of the warrants for their arrest.
