A Hayward woman has been sentenced in federal court in San Francisco to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute oxycodone and four other drug charges. Ella Mae Simpson, 55, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Susan Illston on Tuesday. She pleaded guilty in May to the charges, which included conspiracy, three counts of oxycodone distribution and one count of possessing the drug with intent to sell it.

U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag said that during her plea, Simpson admitted to conspiring with others to distribute the drug and to selling it on three occasions in 2011. She also admitted to possessing the drug with intent to distribute it on June 9, 2011, the date that law enforcements officers searched her house and seized $235,524 and a gun. In addition to the prison sentence, Illston ordered forfeiture of the $235,524. Simpson will begin serving her prison sentence March 22.
