Salinas gang-related shooting two teen boys injured near Los Padres Park

Two teen boys were injured in a gang-related shooting Monday night in Salinas, police said. Police were dispatched to 1250 E. Alisal St., near Los Padres Park, at 7:07 p.m., on a report of two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Upon arrival at the scene, police located two juvenile boys, ages 16 and 17, with gunshot wounds. One victim was airlifted to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
The second victim was transported to a local hospital, where he underwent surgery and is in serious condition, according to police. Witnesses told police that two male suspects were seen following the shooting. The suspects were running through a nearby apartment complex wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, police said. Police said the incident is being investigated as a gang-related shooting.
