Livermore police are reminding residents to lock their car doors after arresting three juveniles in connection with a series of car burglaries early Sunday morning. Officers noticed cars with their doors open in the southwest area of the city around 6 a.m. Sunday. At about the same time, police received calls from residents in the area who had seen a male suspect knocking on the doors of homes, trying to open car doors and acting strangely in general, police said.

Officers searched the area and spotted a 16-year-old boy in the 100 block of El Caminito. The boy fled from officers, but was quickly caught. He was in possession of property taken from nearby cars, according to police. Police determined that two other juveniles were also involved in the thefts. All three were arrested for petty theft and released to the custody of their parents or guardians. Police interviewed residents whose unlocked cars had been entered, and most told police that nothing had been stolen, police said. Livermore police are urging residents to lock their cars, avoid leaving valuables inside, and to call police to report any suspicious activity.
