A woman died at a hospital today an hour after she was shot inside a residence in East San Jose, a San Jose police spokesman said. The woman, who was not identified, was shot inside a home in the 2600 block of Ponselle Court between U.S. Highway 101 and South King Road, police spokesman Sgt. Jason Dwyer said. The victim suffered at least one gunshot wound and police emergency dispatchers received a report that a person had been shot at 1:37 p.m., Dwyer said.
Police found the woman lying injured inside the residence. She was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at about 2:30 p.m., Dwyer said. Police are still looking for the shooter, Dwyer said. “We don’t know exactly what the motive was,” he said. “We have no indication it was gang-related.” Investigators were interviewing witnesses this afternoon to obtain statements, Dwyer said. The homicide was the second of the year in San Jose, Dwyer said.
