A 20-year resident of Sonoma Valley was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sexually abusing a child under 10 years old, a Sonoma County sheriff’s sergeant said. The child’s parent contacted Sonoma police about a sexual assault around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sgt. Cecile Focha said. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office then got a warrant to search a location and a vehicle in Sonoma County, Focha said. Kenneth Donald Hutchins, 64, of Sonoma, was arrested at his residence for felony sexual assault, Focha said. Hutchins was booked in the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of aggravated sexual assault of a child, continuous sexual abuse of a child, sexual abuse of a child under age 10, and oral copulation with force of a child under age 14, Focha said. Hutchins faces 25 years to life in prison, Focha said. He is being held under no bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Sonoma County Superior Court Friday afternoon. Details of the alleged sexual offenses were not immediately available this afternoon.
