A 20-year-old Newark woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon for an incident in the 6000 block of Thornton Avenue Thursday morning, police said. Police said officers were dispatched to that location at about 11:08 a.m. Thursday to investigate a report of an assault with a blunt object.
They said the suspect, Jasmine Ann Minjarez, and the victim, who wasn’t named, were both still at the scene when officers arrived and the victim was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was released a short time later. Minjarez was identified as the suspect in the case and arrested, police said.
She’s being held at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin in lieu of $30,000 bail. Police said they don’t have any other details on the incident at this time.
