Fairfield police are treating the death of a homeless man who was found in bushes on Pennsylvania Avenue Wednesday afternoon as a homicide. David Chambers Jr., 37, was taken to the NorthBay Medical Center where injuries to his face and head were discovered, police Sgt. Troy Oviatt said. Chambers was then taken to John Muir Medical Center where he died, Oviatt said. The person who found Chambers in the bushes in the 1700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue said he tried to awaken Chambers but he did not respond, Oviatt said. Police then arrived at 3 p.m. “We are trying to determine how and when Mr. Chambers sustained his injuries,” Oviatt said.
