Police are asking the public to help identify a man who exposed himself to a woman as she sat in a parked car in Palo Alto on Tuesday night. At about 11:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a parking lot at 324 Sherman Ave., less than two blocks from the California Avenue Caltrain station, after receiving a 911 call from a woman reporting an indecent exposure, police said. Police arrived at the parking lot but were unable to locate the suspect.
The victim, a woman in her 20s, had parked her car in the lot and was sending a text message when she looked up to see a man standing next to the front passenger door of her car, police said. The man had lowered his pants and was masturbating while looking at her, the victim told police. The victim drove away immediately and called 911 from her cellphone, police said.
The suspect is described a white man in his early 20s standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was clean-shaven and has a thin build and short brown hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing blue jeans and a light-colored short-sleeve T-shirt, police said. The victim told police the lighting in the parking lot did not allow her to get a good look at his face. The case remains under investigation, according to police.
