San Francisco police today released surveillance footage and a sketch of a man who was seen entering a Tenderloin apartment last October with a woman who was later found fatally stabbed. Early the morning of Oct. 21, 46-year-old Elia Cruz was seen entering her apartment in the 400 block of Eddy Street with the man.

Then at 1:51 a.m., officers responding to a report of a disturbance found Cruz fatally stabbed there, police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said. The suspect is described as a mixed-race man between 26 and 35 years old who is between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall. He was clean-shaven with long hair parted down the middle in braids, police said. Investigators today were not releasing a possible motive for the killing, Esparza said.
