Oaklands first homicide of 2013 near the corner of 73rd Avenue and Hamilton Street

One person was shot and killed in East Oakland this afternoon, the city’s first homicide of 2013, according to police. The shooting was reported at 12:47 p.m. near the corner of 73rd Avenue and Hamilton Street, Officer J. Moore said. Three people in a car were shot at, and one was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene. The other two passengers were uninjured, Moore said. No suspects were immediately identified.
