A man fatally stabbed with a sharp object in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood early Sunday morning has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 52-year-old Eric Avila. Avila, a San Francisco resident, was seen talking to a suspect shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday near 25th and Connecticut streets, police said. A witness reported that the suspect then swung an object at Avila, who suffered a laceration to his neck and collapsed to the ground, according to police.
Avila was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect, described as a black man in his 20s wearing all black clothing, had not been arrested as of this morning, police said.
