Two known gang members were arrested in Castroville this week after a SWAT team operation revealed they were in unlawful possession of guns and ammunition, Monterey County Sheriff’s officials said. Sheriff’s deputies and members of the sheriff’s SWAT team served a search warrant and conducted a probation compliance search at a home in the 11300 block of Del Monte Avenue in Castroville around 7 a.m. Thursday, according to the sheriff’s office.
During the search, deputies found convicted felon and criminal street gang member Anthony Morales, 26, in possession of firearms and ammunition. The suspect also had two outstanding arrest warrants at the time of the search.
Deputies also found ammunition allegedly belonging to 19-year-old Armando Bravo, who sheriff’s officials also identified as a member of a criminal street gang and a “prohibited person in possession of ammunition,” according to sheriff’s officials. Both men were arrested and taken to Monterey County Jail. A third suspect was arrested at the home on an outstanding warrant, according to the sheriff’s office.
