Police are alerting the public about an armed robbery and sexual assault in West Oakland earlier this month, police said today. On Dec. 8 a male and female victim were approached by two armed strangers in the 2800 block of Ettie Street around 11:45 p.m., police said.

The suspect hit the male victim, knocking him unconscious onto the ground, police said. Both victims were robbed and then the suspects sexually assaulted the female, according to police. The suspects then fled on foot. The suspects were described as black men anywhere between 25 and 30 years old.

The first suspect stood about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build, dark complexion, a mustache and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans, police said. The second suspect was about 6 feet 1 inch tall, with a dark complexion and wearing a white baseball hat and a black hooded sweatshirt. Both had handguns, police said. Investigators are working with the victims to create sketches of the suspects.
