A man killed in a shooting in West Oakland on Christmas Day was identified by police today as 32-year-old Ronald Lewis. Police said Lewis, an Oakland resident, had been standing near 24th and Chestnut streets at about 2:30 p.m. when a suspect approached him in a vehicle, got out and fired several rounds. Lewis ran and the suspect got back into his vehicle, followed Lewis and then got out of the car again and opened fire, police said. Lewis was struck by gunfire and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at about 3 p.m. that day.
Police also identified the victim of a separate shooting in the 700 block of Market Street in Oakland at about 8:25 p.m. on Christmas Eve as 26-year-old Brittan Sneed, of Oakland. When officers arrived at the scene of that shooting, they found Sneed suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition, police identified a man killed in a third shooting in the 1100 block of 32nd Street at about 6:09 p.m. Saturday as 58-year-old Lashawn Browning, of Oakland. A second man was injured in that shooting and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police initially said he was in critical but stable condition, but haven’t provided an update on his condition.
