Those warning posters on MUNI buses are not just for show. Three people had their cellphones taken during robberies while riding a MUNI bus or shortly after leaving the bus throughout San Francisco, police said.
On Friday at 6:13 p.m., a 32-year-old woman was sitting on the 29-Sunset bus and talking on her cellphone when a black man in his 20s grabbed the phone, exited the bus and fled on foot on Persia Street towards Mission Street, police said.
The following day, five suspects followed a 36-year-old woman after she exited a MUNI bus near San Bruno and Olmstead avenues at 6 p.m. One of the suspects reached into the victim’s back pocket and took her phone, police said. The suspects were described as five black males between 17 and 18 years old.
A third was taken from a 17-year-old boy at about 4:25 p.m. near San Bruno and Silver avenues. The boy was using his cellphone on a MUNI bus when one suspect approached him and grabbed the phone. While they struggled for the phone, two other suspects punched the boy in the face, police said. The first suspect gained control of the phone and all three fled on foot, police said.
The suspects were described as three black men in their 20s.
