Police in Salinas are seeking the public’s help in finding a man who is believed to have killed his brother-in-law over a family dispute Monday evening, police said. Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1200 block of Second Avenue at about 5:25 p.m., according to police. When they arrived at the scene, they found 30-year-old Salvador Garcia lying unconscious on the driveway near the rear of the house, suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said that Garcia was likely confronted by the suspect, identified as his brother-in-law Francisco Navarro, 34, over a family dispute before he was shot. Navarro fled the scene in a custom orange painted 2002 Chevrolet Silverado truck, police said. His whereabouts are unknown, and he is considered to be armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about Navarro’s location is asked to call Salinas police at (831) 758-7129 or (831) 758-7270.
