A man wanted in connection with a murder in Maryland was detained at Oakland International Airport as he tried to leave the country Thursday night, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Pedro Gomez Reyes, 59, was detained around 11:45 p.m. in the jet way as he was about to board a plane to Mexico City, officials said. “This arrest is a perfect example of CBP’s close communication with other law enforcement agencies,” said Brian J. Humphrey, director of field operations in San Francisco for the agency. A Mexican citizen, Reyes is a lawful permanent resident of the United States. Reyes was turned over to the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office for processing.
