Sheriff’s Investigators have identified and arrested a 3rd alleged suspect in this case, 49 yr old Richard Rodriguez Jr. Rodriguez turned himself into police at the Alameda Police Department yesterday evening shortly after 5pm for the outstanding warrant for his arrest on this case.

Sheriff’s Investigators had obtained a $250,000 arrest warrant for Rodriguez in this case. Rodriguez was arrested for  alleged 245PC (Assault with a Deadly Weapon) and 236 PC (False Imprisonment) against the victim in this case.

On 12/03/12 at approximately 6:51pm, Santa Clara County Communications received a call regarding a kidnapping and assault incident that occurred on the 200 block of Caldwell Court in unincorporated Morgan Hill. At the time of Sheriff’s Office notification, San Jose Police were standing by at a gas station on Santa Teresa Boulevard & Cottle Road in San Jose with two suspects in custody on the case. They requested Sheriff’s Office deputies take over the investigation due to the crime occurring outside of their jurisdiction. Sheriff’s Deputies responded and met with San Jose Police Officers & with the victim, a 50 year old handyman from San Jose. The victim told Deputies that he had performed handyman services for a relative of one of the suspects approximately two months prior. The suspect’s relative only paid the victim a portion for his work, resulting in a dispute for services rendered.

On 12/03/12 at approximately 1045 hours, the suspects lured the victim to a residence located on the 200 block of Caldwell Court in unincorporated Morgan Hill. The suspects requested the victim’s presence at the house to conduct “repair work” on an appliance for them. When the victim arrived at the suspect’s house, he was immediately assaulted, held against his will, and repeatedly threatened with his life for several hours. The suspects forced the victim to perform repair work at the Caldwell Court residence as well.

At approximately 1730 hours, while still at the Caldwell Court residence, the suspects forced the victim into the victim’s truck. One of the suspects drove the victim’s truck (the victim and other suspect were passengers). The suspects told the victim they were enroute to a relative’s house in Santa Clara and threatened the victim by telling him he was to complete handyman work initiated two months ago (original dispute), once they got there. While enroute to the suspect’s relative address in Santa Clara, the suspects stopped for gas in the area of Santa Teresa Boulevard and Cottle Road in San Jose. The two suspects exited the victim’s vehicle to pay for gas and snacks, while the victim remained inside the vehicle.

Prior to exiting the vehicle to pay for gas, the suspects warned the victim to remain inside the vehicle while they paid for gas. After a few seconds of the suspects exiting the vehicle, the victim unlocked the vehicle doors and managed to escape on foot. The victim ran to a nearby residence to report the incident. San Jose Police Officers responded to the area and located the suspects near Santa Teresa Boulevard and Cottle Road. The two suspects were taken into custody. Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene and arrested the suspects for suspicion of several felonies: False Imprisonment, Kidnapping, Assault w/a Deadly Weapon, Criminal Threats, and Conspiracy.

The two suspects arrested in the case have been identified as: Jason DeJesus, 36 years old from Morgan Hill & Chanelle Troedson, 33 years old from Morgan Hill.
