The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Santa Rosa man Sunday for an assault at a party in the Fulton area of the county, a sheriff’s sergeant said. Sheriff’s deputies went to Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa around 6:15 a.m. in response to a battery report, Sgt. Carlos Basurto said. The 34-year-old victim, also a Santa Rosa resident, suffered serious head injuries from the assault, Basurto said.

Detectives learned the assault happened in the 3000 block of Francisco Avenue earlier Sunday morning, Basurto said. Detectives identified the suspect as 26-year-old Gerald Michael Perez, of Santa Rosa, and arrested him for battery with serious bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon, Basurto said.
