A man who died Friday from injuries he suffered in a beating in East Oakland earlier this month has been identified by police as 39-year-old Aaron Lang. Oakland police said they believe Lang was beaten during an altercation with someone near the intersection of East 15th Street and 23rd Avenue on Dec. 8.

They said a friend took Lang, an Oakland resident, to Highland Hospital the next morning because he was unresponsive. Lang died at the hospital on Friday. The death has been ruled a homicide, police said. Police haven’t released any information about what caused the altercation or possible suspects in the case.
