A man with a simulated weapon robbed a supermarket in Salinas on Saturday, police said. Officers responded to a reported robbery at a Foods Co on Alisal Street at about 6:30 p.m., according to Salinas police. A man in his 40s had entered the business and indicated to the cashier that he had a handgun under his sweatshirt, police said.
The cashier was ordered to empty the cashier and the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured, and a weapon was not seen. The suspect fled through a parking lot and was seen getting into a dark pickup truck with a camper shell. The back window of the shell had a sticker on it that said “Leer.”
