Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in East Oakland this afternoon, an Oakland police sergeant said. The shooting was first reported at 3:33 p.m. near the corner of 83rd Avenue and D Street, Sgt. Chris Bolton said. Officers responding found a man on the ground suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics responded but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are asking anyone with information about the killing to contact Oakland police. No suspects have been identified, Bolton said.
